How to Install Custom Wraps on Your Tesla Touchscreen
Step-by-step guide to loading custom wrap designs into Tesla Paint Shop (Toybox) using a USB drive. Works with Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck, and all variants.

What is Tesla Paint Shop?
Tesla Paint Shop — also known as Toybox — is a built-in feature on all Tesla vehicles that lets you display a custom wrap design on your car's dashboard touchscreen. It's purely digital — no physical vinyl or paint is involved — but it's a fun way to personalize how your Tesla looks on screen.
The feature is found under Toybox > Paint Shop on your Tesla's infotainment system.
What You'll Need
Before you start, make sure you have:
- A USB drive formatted as exFAT, FAT32, or ext3/ext4
- Your custom wrap image as a PNG file
- Image dimensions: 4096 x 1080 pixels
- File size: under 5 MB
Tip: TeslaWrap automatically generates your wrap in the correct format and dimensions — just hit the download button on any wrap.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Download Your Wrap
From TeslaWrap, open any wrap design and click the Download button. The image will save as a PNG file in the correct 4096x1080 resolution.
2. Prepare Your USB Drive
Format your USB drive using one of these file systems:
- exFAT (recommended — works on Windows and Mac)
- FAT32 (Windows)
- MS-DOS FAT (Mac)
- ext3 or ext4 (Linux)
Important: NTFS format is not supported by Tesla vehicles.
3. Create the TeslaUSB Folder
On the root of your USB drive, create a folder called exactly:
TeslaUSB
The folder name is case-sensitive. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
4. Copy Your Wrap File
Place your downloaded PNG wrap file inside the TeslaUSB folder. You can have up to 10 image files in this folder.
5. Load It in Your Tesla
- Plug the USB drive into your Tesla's USB port
- On the touchscreen, go to Toybox
- Select Paint Shop
- Browse and select your custom wrap image
- Your wrap will appear on the car visualization instantly
Supported Tesla Models
TeslaWrap supports all Tesla models with accurate templates:
- Model 3 (all years and variants)
- Model Y (including 2025+ refresh, Performance, and Premium)
- Model YL
- Cybertruck
Each model has a unique template that matches its exact body panels and proportions.
Tips for Great Wraps
- Use high-contrast designs — they look best on the Tesla screen
- Keep text minimal — small text gets hard to read at 4096x1080
- Try different styles — TeslaWrap offers 9 AI styles from Solid Color to Artistic
- Use reference images — upload any inspiration image and let AI match the style
- Clone designs — see a wrap on a Model Y but own a Cybertruck? Clone it to your model
Troubleshooting
Wrap doesn't show up?
- Check the USB format (must not be NTFS)
- Make sure the folder is named exactly
TeslaUSB - Verify the image is PNG format and under 5 MB
- Try a different USB port
Image looks stretched or cropped?
- Ensure dimensions are exactly 4096 x 1080 pixels
- TeslaWrap wraps are always the correct size — if you're using a custom image, resize it first
